abuelo

my father-in-law came for a quick visit today.  he lives out of the country, so we rarely see him...  in fact, i think we've seen him maybe four times since the eldest was born.  anyway, today he came and met baby girl, and was instantly smitten.

then we tried to get a nice group shot of three generations...  sadly, this was the best one.
poor bitty was not happy receiving her brother's affection!

all the excitement proved to be too much for the mario brothers, and they were laid to rest (briefly)...

bounty

today the younger son harvested a few things in the garden with the husband, who captured him as he immediately set to work creating a culinary masterpiece...

the wooden apple is particularly delicious.

back in black

i didn't expect to take such an extended break, although considering what a PITA my computer is, it's probably a miracle that i didn't say screw it altogether until i get a new machine.

so anyway, i'm back... and wearing black, although also with a black-ish state of mind.

i thought about breaking this up into separate chronological posts, but i don't feel like it...  so you get a nice effload at once.
you're welcome.

first up, a few outtakes from my 30 day photo challenge:

baby girl trying to beat the heat at my nephew's soccer tournament:

and i didn't buy the water, so i had no control over it being nestle...
who is this man-child???
my awesome nephew kickin' ass!  LOL
(no soccer players were actually harmed in the making of this photo)

a visit to the farmer's market, and the playground beside it...

and who knows what's in this stuff, but the boys loved it...

and some gratuitous baby girl photos:

yeah, that's right~  she's STANDING!!!  i can't take it...

bereavement leave

i have been on a break for a few days, and probably will continue for a few more.  even though i have taken photos, i'm just not up to dealing with them at the moment...
last week, my grandfather passed away. it is so hard to believe he is gone, and i'm still trying to process.

rest in peace, grandaddy~ give our love to grammie.

hi ho, the derry-o

today was the annual farm party that Victory Farms throws for its CSA members.  This is our second year as CSA members, but our first attending the party.  thankfully it wasn't as hot as it had been earlier in the week, although it was pretty damn humid.  the food was delicious~  each family brought a side dish to share~ and the kids enjoyed the drummers...

baby girl getting ready to boogie

it was also nice to take a walk through the fields and see some of the crops that will eventually make their way to our table.
